How do you even come up with something like that?
The Missing Years of Music, Episode 3: My nephew and guitar hero Jack Devine revives 1986
I get the same feelings listening to my nephew Jack Devine playing guitar that I get from being near a waterfall.
Exhilaration. Cascading wonder. Happiness at being alive to experience this moment.
Jack is a working musician in Nashville, and I was thrilled he was up for sharing his Top 5 from 1986 to help me in my quest to fill in my missing years of music.
Technically, 1986 is more than a decade before Jack was born. We talked about our shared interest in musical time travel. I learned that for Jack, it’s as complex, elegant, and energetic as an Eddie Van Halen solo, with notes of art, craft, dedication, obsession, love, and beauty.
